A GUIDE TO COFFEE IN PARIS : THE NO NAME CAFE

Posted on

télescopecafé

It's very rare that we see an establishment that has no sign or banner outside their shop. Télescope in 5 rue Villedowas is just one of them-- their marketing is a word-of-mouth kind of a deal.

It is one of the first in a collection of cafés that are changing the way the capital caffeinates. With only a few tables, no wi-fi and small selection of food.  Yes! don’t ask for free Wi-Fi ‘it is not our concept’ the barista said. The express intent is somehow pretty clear, they want their customers to talk to one another instead of burying their faces in laptops.

Besides from raising awareness about the imbalance between the use of  technology and face-to-face communication, What they offer here is just a short menu of impeccably crafted coffee and a handful of delectable sweet baked goods...The focus is squarely on the fluid inside your cup.

Even the coffee menu looks pretty minimalist  and to ensure freshness they only keep small stocks of beans.

Dont expect a big smile from the baristas here because the crew is quiet friendly. While most people say its a small and cheerful coffee shop, Its relatively because  of their chirpy interior decor.
